The first most ferquently asked question and to me the most important What is CBD?

Today on Learn we will be taking a close look at What CBD Is... CBD is an abbreviation for the word Cannabidiol, one of at least 80 known natural compounds found in Cannabis called Cannabinoids. So first lets talk about Cannabis. The word Cannabis is a compound word combined of two indigenous words "canna" meaning a stalk with bright pointy flowers or leaves. Second word being "bis" meaning twins or an origin of two sexes. Yes, Cannabis has male and female properties. Hemp being the male and Marijuana being the female. You can Learn more about Hemp from a few of our blog post like "10 Fun Facts About The Hemp Industry" or "We should be taught about Hemp in History Class". A lot of people know what Marijuana is because of its euphoric or psychoactive effects(getting you high) from the Cannabinoid Tetrahydrocannabinol widely know as THC. Hemp is no where near as well known in today's world as our ancestors and their ancestors. Hemp was used so much it was proclaimed to be the first billion dollar crop until the year 1930 when it was made illegal. Hemp is the opposite of Marijuana it is non-psychoactive(no getting high) because it has almost no trace of THC, to be exact it has about 0.05% or of THC in the whole plant. However, there is an abundance of CBD found in Hemp. Which contains almost as much or more nutrients and health benefits to the human body as Marijuana but without the psychoactive affect. (Not to spoil next weeks topic on "Learn" which is all about the Endocannabiniod System) The reason why CBD is does not get you high is due to the fact that CBD doesn't respond to CB1 receptors unlike THC. There is an extreme amount of CB1 receptors found in the brain, and they are the pathways responsible for the psychoactive effects of THC. Although CBD and THC respond on different pathways of the Endocannabiniod System, they seem to have many of the same medical benefits. According to a 2013 review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, studies have found CBD to possess the following medical properties of Anti-emetic to reduce nausea and vomiting, Anti-convulsant to suppresses seizure activity, Anti-psychotic to treat psychosis disorders, Anti-inflammatory to treat inflammatory disorders, Anti-oxidant to combats neurodegenerative disorders, Anti-tumoral/Anti-cancer to combat tumor and cancer cells, Anxiolytic/Anti-depressant to treat anxiety and depression disorders. Unfortunately, most of this evidence comes from animals, since very few studies on CBD have been carried out in human patients, so there is still much research needed. Unfortunately, CBD products derived from industrial hemp potentially have several potential problems. Industrial hemp typically contains far less cannabidiol than CBD-rich cannabis strains, so a huge amount of industrial hemp is required to extract a small amount of CBD. This raises the risk of contaminants as hemp is a “bio-accumulator,” meaning the plant naturally drawns toxins from the soil. Hemp-derived CBD and refined ‘pure’ CBD powder don't contain enough of critical medicinal terpenes and secondary cannabinoids found in Marijuana extracted CBD oil. These secondary compounds interact with CBD and THC to enhance their medicinal benefits, meaning CBD extracted from Hemp is good but CBD extracted from Marijuana is better! Which leads us into our Question for tomorrow "Since CBD Is Non-Psychoactive, Does that mean It's Legal?"
